Hat irgendjemand vielleicht das wichtigste kurz und knackig zusammen gefasst?

Das über die Green Mile hab ich alles, aber so Pro/Contra fehlt mir total. *langsamimmergenervteristundkeinelusthatwaszutun*

Bissi spät aber doch xD

Death Penalty
Supporters:
2 major reasons in support of their view:
1.) Apropriate Punishment
Death is the only punishment that fits murder; this idea even goes back to ancient traditions, when you think about “an eye for an eye” -> you kill someone, then you should be killed too.
Consider case of Robert lee willie “dead man walking” -> kidnapped 18 year old girl, raped and stabbed her, showed no remorse until the end

2.) Deterrence

Supporters argue that if people know that the death penalty is a possible punishment for murder, then they are less likely to commit the crime.

Opponents:

1.) An ineffective and expensive punishment

Since the death penalty was made legal murder rates across the country have risen dramatically. That proves that the capital punishment is not a deterrent and does not help prevent violent crime. Besides that it’s far more expensive that to imprison someone for life.

2.) Unfair Punishment

The judges and the juries are human and can make mistakes. A example therefore is the case of Kirk Bloodsworth, who was accused and convicted of raping and murdering a nine-year- old girl. He had an alibi but the jury didn’t believe him until his lawyer discovered a FBI report that cast doubt on his conviction. Subsequent DNA tests showed that Blooedworth could not have been the killer. After 9 years in death row he was freed. A study by the Stanford Law Review documents 350 cases in the US since 1900 where people have been wrongly convicted of capital crimes. Of these innocent people 139 were sentenced to death and 23 were executed.

3.) Another form of murder

Killing is a killing, no matter how cleanly it is done. Capital Punishment is simply state-sanctioned murder.
