Plastic Surgery

The change of the body during puberty is a change many teenagers can’t handle.
Regarding them as too fat or not pretty enough they decide to subject themselves to plastic surgery.
Some plastic surgeons refuse to perform operations on teenagers who want to undergo an operation for reasons they regard as wrong. For example Dr. John Grossman refuses to perform liposuction on teenagers because he thinks that it would send a wrong message to them. In his opinion it is too easy for teenagers to just go under the knife and not to exercise.
Also it is a very risky issue to surgically alter the body. The consequences of a plastic surgery can be infections, scarring, poor results and even death.
Nevertheless teenagers take the risks and go under the knife. Furthermore they are ready to raise the funds for an operation themselves by getting summer jobs.
Professionals like Mitchel Goldman, Director of the Laser Skin Surgery Center of La Jolla in Californian, think that the reasons for the rising number of cosmetic surgeries are the perfectly skin, good looking models, musicians and movie stars in magazines. These unrealistic pictures cause the pressure to look perfect and defect the self-esteem of young people.

Cosmetic surgeries are very costly and also very risky issues. The decision of subjecting oneself to plastic surgery is a very hard decision to make and should be very well reconsidered. This is why I think that teenagers should not go under the knife for they may regret their decision later on.
I think that the reasons that people resort to such measures are damaged self-esteem and craving for beauty. People want to get the perfect look to live up to the expectations of others and they are ready to pay thousands of dollars and even to take the health risks of going under the knife to achieve a look that is regarded as beautiful.
It is hard for me to understand that and I think that breast augmentations, rhinoplastic surgeries and liposuction may make somebody look a little better but it won’t make anybody happier.
